Bangladesh have been docked 5% of their match fee for a slow over-rate in their opening game of the UAE One Day International tri-series against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, the ICC confirmed on Monday.

David Gilbert, a member of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, handed down the penalty after Bangladesh were found to have bowled one over fewer than required within the allotted time, even after time allowances were considered.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 5% of their match fees for each over their team falls behind the required rate.

Stand-in skipper Towhid Hridoy acknowledged the offence and agreed to the punishment, meaning no formal hearing was necessary.

The charge was brought by on-field umpires Allahuddien Paleker and Izatullah Safi, third umpire Ahsan Raza, and fourth umpire Ahmed Shah Durrani.

Bangladesh endured a 99-run loss at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in the match. Set a target of 272, Hridoy's team were dismissed for 172 in 33.4 overs.
