Bangladesh Police FC dropped their first points of the new Bangladesh Football League (BFL) season on Saturday after being held to a 1-1 draw by Arambagh Krira Sangha, while giants Dhaka Abahani Limited cruised to a commanding 3-1 victory over Chattogram City FC.

Police had set the early pace in the competition with three straight victories, stealing a march on heavyweight rivals such as Abahani and reigning champions Bashundhara Kings. However, SM Asifuzzaman’s side finally saw their winning streak snapped at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.

Md Rabby Hossen Rahul fired Police ahead on the half-hour mark, but Samor Joy Tanchangya struck deep into first-half stoppage time (45+4) to earn Arambagh a hard-fought point. Despite the slip, Police remain atop the table with 10 points from four matches. Traditional powerhouses Mohammedan Sporting Club sit second with nine points from three outings, matching the tally of six-time champions Bashundhara Kings in fourth.

At the Mymensingh District Stadium, Dhaka Abahani showed their class on home turf with a clinical display against struggling Chattogram City. Michael Babatunde opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Anthony Okachi doubled the lead in first-half added time (45+1). Al Amin effectively settled the contest ten minutes after the restart, while Raphael Odovin Onwrebe grabbed a late consolation for Chattogram three minutes into second-half stoppage time. The Sky Blues now boast seven points from three matches to climb into fifth place, while Chattogram City stay rooted to the bottom following four straight defeats.

Elsewhere, Munshiganj’s Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium witnessed a pulsating 2-2 stalemate between Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society and Brothers Union. Brothers broke the deadlock through Jamal Bhuyan in the ninth minute, but Ananta Tamang Limbu restored parity for the Old Dhaka side from the penalty spot ten minutes later. Ali Raza put Brothers back in front on the stroke of half-time (45+1), only for Sazzad to salvage a draw for Rahmatganj with a 58th-minute strike.

The result leaves Rahmatganj with three draws and one loss from four fixtures, while Brothers Union continue their search for a first win after posting two draws and two defeats.
