Bangladesh endured another frustrating day at the Asian Games on Monday, with their archers crashing out of the individual compound events and the men's hockey team suffering a crushing 10-0 defeat to India.

After their archers were eliminated in all six team events on Sunday, the country had hoped to secure a medal in the individual categories. However, none of the four competitors across the men's and women's draws managed to reach the quarter-finals.

In the men's individual compound, major medal hope Himu Bachar was knocked out in the very first round. He lost 146-141 to Kazakhstan's Tutun Andre, who had placed 11th in the ranking round. Teammate Nawaz Ahmed Rakib started well, edging past Iran's Milad Rashidi by a single point in his opening match. But his run ended in the pre-quarter-finals after a 148-145 defeat to China's Liu Jini.

The women's compound events offered a similar story. Both Kulsum Akter Moni and Bannya Akter received byes into the round of 32. Moni was beaten in her opening match by Malaysia's Nina Bonita. Bannya went one step further, defeating Iran's Gisa Bybordi 147-143 to reach the last 16. However, she was denied a place in the quarter-finals after a narrow 144-143 loss to another Iranian archer, Oskouei.

The Bangladeshi squad will now look to bounce back when they return to action in the individual recurve events on Tuesday.
