BCB unveil new ‘Domestic Three’ structure

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday officially unveiled a new domestic cricket structure named “Domestic Three”, bringing first-class, One Day and T20 cricket under a single league system. The launch ceremony was attended by BCB President Tamim Iqbal Khan and State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque.

The new structure aims to streamline the country’s domestic calendar and provide cricketers with regular competitive action across all three formats. Under the system, the same franchises will compete in first-class, one-day and T20 tournaments, allowing players to represent one team throughout the season.

A total of six teams will take part in the competition. According to the BCB, the management draft is scheduled for 29 September, when franchises will recruit coaching and support staff, including coaches, analysts, trainers and physiotherapists.

The players’ auction will be held on October 26, with each team allowed to sign 23 cricketers. The season is set to begin in Barishal on December 15 with the T20 tournament before moving to the four-day competition in January. A total of 42 matches will be played across the three formats during the season.
