The Bangladesh Premier League’s (BPL) corruption saga has taken another turn, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) charging two former team officials under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code over alleged violations linked to the last two editions of the tournament.
Former Chattogram Royals owner Md Abdul Qaiyum Rashed and former team official Md Amin Khan were provisionally suspended and served Notices of Charge on Thursday following investigations by the BCB Integrity Unit (BCBIU).
Rashed, who owned the Royals in the 2024-25 BPL, faces four charges, including attempting to improperly influence the course or result of a match, failing to report an alleged corrupt approach, refusing to cooperate with investigators and obstructing or delaying the investigation.
The BCB said Rashed failed to hand over his primary mobile phone to anti-corruption officials, preventing a forensic examination that could have helped verify potentially relevant communications.
Amin Khan, who worked with Durbar Rajshahi in the 2024-25 season before joining the Royals in 2025-26, has also been charged with four offences. These include attempting to influence a match improperly, assisting or encouraging corrupt activity, failing to cooperate with the investigation, and concealing or destroying relevant information or communications.
The latest action follows earlier charges against several players, team officials and franchise owners in May, while former BCB director Muhammad Mukhlesur Rahman and two others were charged earlier this month.
Both Rashed and Amin have 14 days from receiving the Notices of Charge to respond as part of the disciplinary process.
The BCB said it would not comment further on the ongoing proceedings.
