Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz enjoyed a dream Caribbean Premier League (CPL) debut, taking three wickets to help Guyana Amazon Warriors register a four-wicket victory over St Lucia Kings.
Miraz played a key role with the ball, finishing with figures of 3-13 from his four overs as St Lucia were bowled out for 119 in 18.5 overs. The off-spinner kept things tight and picked up important wickets to put the opposition under pressure.
In reply, Guyana chased down the target with four wickets in hand to secure a comfortable victory.
The 28-year-old joined the Warriors as a replacement for Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. Miraz struck at key moments and kept the batters quiet throughout his spell.
Guyana captain Imran Tahir was delighted with the Bangladeshi's performance after the match. The veteran South African described Miraz as a world-class bowler and praised his ability to deliver consistently at the highest level.
The strong debut has given Miraz a perfect start to his CPL campaign and raised hopes that he can continue making valuable contributions for Guyana in the remainder of the tournament.
