South Africa captain Temba Bavuma expects Bangladesh’s pace attack to pose a serious challenge when they tour South Africa later this year.
“Bangladesh have a very good bowling attack, and they will definitely put us under pressure,” Bavuma told TimesLIVE.
Bangladesh will begin the tour with the first Test in Johannesburg from 15-19 November, followed by the second in Centurion from 23-27 November. The three One Day International series will be played on 1, 4 and 7 December, while the T20 International series are scheduled for 10, 12 and 13 December.
Bangladesh recently split their two-Test series in Australia, winning the first Test in Darwin by nine wickets before suffering an innings defeat in Mackay. The victory followed their 2-0 Test sweep over Pakistan in May.
Pacers have played a key role in their recent success. Nahid Rana took 11 wickets against Pakistan, while Hasan Mahmud claimed nine against Australia, including 6-55 in Darwin. Shoriful Islam took seven in Mackay.
Nahid, however, missed the Australia series after suffering a Grade 2 left-side strain during the second T20 International against Zimbabwe on 17 July. He was expected to need six to eight weeks to recover.
Recent victories over Pakistan and Australia have shown that the Tigers can compete with established Test sides. Now, against South Africa, they will be chasing something even bigger.
