Senior batter Mushfiqur Rahim warned Bangladesh against easing off on Tuesday, insisting consistency, not celebration, must define the squad as they turn attention to the second Test in Mackay.
The wicketkeeper-batter praised a red-ball group he says now boasts genuine depth. "I can feel eight or nine match-winners out of 15 or 16 in this group," he said via video message, calling it a rare sign of collective belief within Bangladesh cricket.
Mushfiqur, only to play 100 Tests for Bangladesh, credited individual improvement across the squad for translating into team success, but stressed the challenge now is repetition.
"The only formula is one: day in, day out. There are no shortcuts," he mentioned.
Drawing on Bangladesh's win in Mount Maunganui, he referenced a simple template: naming each day a contest to win at least two of three sessions, regardless of conditions.
The 39-year-old also praised Litton Das's contribution despite modest scores and stressed a culture in which struggling teammates are lifted rather than singled out.
"For me, as a team, how much you achieve, that means a lot to me," Mushfiqur concluded, setting the tone ahead of Mackay.
