Former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Khaled Mahmud Sujon has been appointed as consultant of age-level cricket on a two-year agreement.
The former Bangladesh captain, who previously worked in the game development committee as its chair, confirmed the development to Daily Sun on Wednesday.
“I was discussing about this with Tamim (Iqbal, BCB president) for quite a while now. I have been given a two-year deal,” said Sujon.
Sujon was one of the architects of Bangladesh’s victory at the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, a title triumph that encouraged Tamim to bring him back to the BCB to work as a mentor with young cricketers at the grassroot level.
The 54-year old expressed delight with the role, a one he is familiar with.
“This is a work I like doing. I have spent most of my coaching life in development and age-group cricket. When I was chairman of the BCB development committee, I tried my best to develop the cricketers of that level. We won the youth World Cup as well. After leaving the board, I mostly worked as a coach with age-level cricketers. The new role is an ideal one for me. I hope I will be able to do something good in these two years,” he noted.
Under the Nazmul Hasan Papon-led board, Sujon also worked as a team director of the national team in world events.
