The Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team made a great start to their five-match series against Nepal.
They won the first match 34-24 at the National Kabaddi Stadium on Friday to take a 1-0 lead.
The home team played very well from the beginning.
With strong attacks and good defending, Bangladesh took a 14-10 lead by half-time.
Nepal tried hard to come back in the second half, but Bangladesh stayed calm and won the game by 10 clear points.
Bangladesh captain Shraboni Mallik was named player of the match for her excellent performance.
The match was made extra special by the presence of Zaima Rahman, the daughter of the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
She left the VIP area to stand with the normal crowd and cheer for the team.
After the game, she talked with the winning players and smiled for selfies with them.
Earlier in the day, the IGP of Bangladesh Police and Kabaddi Federation President, Md Ali Hossain Fakir, officially opened the series.
Other top government sports officials, including Amena Begum and Mohammad Aminul Ehsan, also attended the event to support the players.
