Mustafizur Rahman’s The Hundred stint is in doubt after the pacer suffered hamstring tear and meniscal degeneration during the One Day International series against Zimbabwe.
The left-arm pacer will miss the remainder of Bangladesh's Zimbabwe tour but is still set to join up with the Phoenix ahead of The Hundred 2026 as originally planned.
Phoenix performance director James Thomas confirmed that the club had held discussions with both Mustafizur and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Thomas said, “It has been agreed that he will travel to Birmingham as planned next week to be assessed by our medical department, after which we can determine whether he will be able to play any part in The Hundred this year.”
“We will continue to work closely with the BCB to ensure we are joined up in our approach to further assess the injury and plan appropriate return to play protocols,” he added.
Mustafizur will travel to Birmingham next week to undergo assessment by Phoenix's medical department that will eventually decide his fate.
The left-arm quick was awarded No Objection Certificate to play the entire competition but this injury is likely to keep him out of the earlier stages.
