Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim acknowledged that fading light became a talking point during the closing stages of the second One Day International against Zimbabwe, but said that the decision to continue play ultimately rested with the on-field umpires.
Bangladesh's chase of 248 ended in a 13-run defeat under deteriorating light at Harare Sports Club, with discussions taking place between the batters and match officials at the back end of the innings before play resumed.
Tanzid admitted that the conditions prompted questions, but refrained from blaming the officials for Bangladesh's series-clinching defeat.
"I don't know whether international cricket should continue under that light or not, but that is the umpires' decision. I don't have anything to say about that," Tanzid said after the match.
Instead, the left-hander pointed to Bangladesh's batting as the real reason behind the defeat.
"Two batters scored fifties, but that wasn't enough. One of us needed to bat until the end. That's why we lost the match," he stated.
The 25-year-old also defended Bangladesh's bowling attack, insisting that the batters had failed to shoulder enough responsibility throughout the series.
"Our bowlers did a really great job. The batters didn't bat well. We couldn't chase 142 in the first match either. We have to be more responsible," he concluded.
