The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has appointed Gerard Jones as the new youth and development head coach, with the half-British, half-French coach expected to arrive by 1 July.
BFF development committee member Sameed Quasem confirmed the appointment after a development committee meeting, revealing that 115 CVs were received from around the world before a shortlist of five candidates was interviewed.
Jones, a UEFA A licence and UEFA Elite A Youth licence holder, brings experience from Sporting Kansas City's Major League Soccer academy, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and a Cambodian Premier League club.
His immediate task will be preparing Bangladesh's Under-20 side for the AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers in Uzbekistan, beginning 29 August, where Bangladesh face the hosts, Syria, and India.
