The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Tuesday that Fahim Sinha will replace Aminul Islam Bulbul as the new chairman of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the country's lone franchise-based T20 cricket tournament.

The decision was taken during the first Board of Directors meeting of the newly elected body led by Tamim Iqbal as they approved different standing committees in their second emergency meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

While Fahim will act as the chairman of BPL governing council, veteran sports organiser Masuduzzaman will be the member secretary of the tournament.

The BPL was rocked by criticism due to non-payment issue while there were also allegations of fixing that the newly formed governing council needs to fix.

The BCB president Tamim Iqbal will be heading the working and facilities committee while he is also expected to lead the cricket operations committee, much like the way he did during his stint as ad-hoc committee chief.

Meanwhile, BCB announced that they have accepted the resignation of Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto from the BCB Board of Directors after he tendered his resignation, citing family reasons.
