Football fans in Bangladesh will be able to watch all matches of the upcoming FIFA World Cup-2026 on television, as concerns over broadcasting rights have been resolved.
All matches will now be aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV), T-Sports, and Somoy TV after a consortium of the three channels secured the broadcasting rights from FIFA.
The Singapore-based company Springbok Private Limited, which had originally purchased the broadcasting rights for Bangladesh, withdrew from the agreement after failing to resell the rights locally. This had left the country without an official broadcaster just under two weeks before the tournament.
The issue was resolved following efforts involving Information and Broadcasting State Minister Yasser Khan Chowdhury and Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal.
They reportedly coordinated with sports channels, national broadcasters, telecom companies, and multiple OTT platforms to secure a solution and explore new revenue models from digital and telecom sectors.
