Mymensingh Mahabidyalay launched their national campaign in the Inter-College Football Competition 2026 in scintillating fashion on Wednesday, routing Habiganj’s Brindaban Government College 5-0 to coast into the next round.

The Mymensingh divisional champions produced a masterclass in attacking football at the Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur.

From the opening whistle, they dictated the tempo, effectively wrapping up the contest in the first half with sharp, fluid passing and impeccable team chemistry.

Brindaban’s backline was relentlessly picked apart as Mymensingh breached their defences at will to seal a commanding victory.

Though the Habiganj outfit engineered a handful of counter-attacks, they were systematically frustrated by a resolute Mymensingh rearguard and an inspired performance from their goalkeeper.

The knockout tournament, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports with support from the Directorate of Sports, was officially opened virtually this morning by the State Minister for Youth and Sports, Md Aminul Haque.

In his inaugural address, the State Minister noted, "The star players of tomorrow's national team will emerge from these college-level footballers."

On the evidence of Wednesday's clinical performance, that optimism feels entirely justified.

The tournament brings together the top 16 college squads from across the country’s eight divisions, with simultaneous knockout fixtures currently taking place across multiple venues.

Following a grueling schedule of high-stakes football over the coming days, the competition will culminate in the grand finale in Dhaka.
