Litton Kumar Das walked off the field in Sylhet having just scored a masterful century under pressure.
Khurram Shahzad though thought luck had played a significant hand in what the Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter had produced.
Litton's response was brief, unbothered, and quietly revealing. "Lucky? Alright, luck is necessary," he noted.
It was just a calm acknowledgement that luck exists in cricket and that a smart player knows how to use it.
The 31-year old did not deny that fortune had smiled on him. He absorbed the comment and moved on, almost as if the debate itself was beside the point.
Later, when the luck question resurfaced, Litton expanded just enough to reveal the full shape of his philosophy.
"In cricket it's not always that things go your way, but on a particular day, if luck favours you, people make good use of it," said Litton.
That sentence carries everything. Luck arrives for everyone. What separates players is whether they are prepared enough to convert it when it does.
Litton was lucky on Saturday. He was also brilliant. And perhaps that is exactly the point.
