The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has provisionally suspended several individuals for serious breaches of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code during the Bangladesh Premier League 12th Edition.
At the centre of the controversy is Amit Mojumder, a domestic cricketer for the Chattogram Royals, who faces grave allegations of match-related betting.
According to the official report, Mojumder has been charged under Article 2.2.1 for his alleged involvement in placing, accepting, and laying bets on the results and conduct of cricket matches.
The investigations, spearheaded by the BCB Integrity Unit, uncovered a network of corrupt activities, including the concealment of communications and a blatant failure to cooperate with anti-corruption officials.
The crackdown heavily implicated team management as well.
Md Lablur Rahman, a team manager, was charged with obstructing the investigation and failing to comply with official demand notices, including the alleged deletion or destruction of relevant information.
Similarly, team manager Rezwan Kabir Siddique faces charges under Article 2.2.1 for his direct involvement in betting activities.
Alongside these managers, franchise co-owner Md Towhidul Haque Towhid was also cited for non-cooperation.
All participants are now under provisional suspension and have 14 days to respond to the charges.
