The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to punish those found guilty of wrongdoing following an investigation into alleged corruption during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025.

The investigation, conducted under the supervision of the BCB’s Anti-Corruption and Integrity Unit, has been completed, and the board is expected to announce disciplinary measures shortly.

The chair of the Independent Integrity Unit of the BCB, Alex Marshall, along with Barrister Mahin M Rahman, general counsel of the board’s integrity unit, finalised the decision to penalise the wrongdoers. The move has been approved by BCB’s ad-hoc committee president Tamim Iqbal and CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

“We have completed the investigation and you will be informed about the decision in two or three days. The decision was taken as per the International Cricket Council code of conduct,” a BCB official confirmed to Daily Sun on Sunday.

The probe began after widespread allegations of match-fixing, spot-fixing and irregular activities surfaced during the 2025 edition of the country’s premier franchise T20 tournament.

Earlier this year, the BCB removed several “red-flagged” cricketers from the player draft list for the 2026 BPL season following findings submitted by an independent inquiry committee.

The investigation report, understood to be around 900 pages, was compiled after months of interviews, evidence collection and analysis involving players, officials and franchise personnel.

The move comes as the BCB attempts to restore confidence in a tournament that has long faced scrutiny over governance, financial instability and integrity issues.

Under the direction of the BCB Integrity Unit, headed by former ICC Anti-Corruption Unit chief Alex Marshall, the flagged individuals were barred from the 2026 BPL auction process and restricted from entering team hotels, dressing rooms and other operational areas during the active investigation.

Despite these restrictions, the players remained eligible to feature in other domestic competitions as no formal sanctions had yet been imposed.

The latest development signals the board is now prepared to move from investigation to punishment.
