East Zone only needed five overs to knock off the three remaining Central Zone wickets to register an innings and 53-run win on the fourth and final day in the 12th Bangladesh Cricket League on Friday.
Resuming on their overnight total of 82/7 in Sylhet, Central Zone were all out for 103 to concede the huge defeat. Mosaddek Hossain top-scored with 22 for Central Zone in what was a sorry batting performance.
East Zone’s bowling attack was led by the national team’s pace battery in Ebadot Hossain (4/28), Khaled Ahmed (3/27) and Hasan Mahmud (2/23).
Central Zone earlier posted 307 in their first innings to which East Zone replied with a commanding 463 riding on Amite Hasan’s brilliant 162 and half-centuries from Mushfiqur Rahim (83) and Yasir Ali (79*).
Meanwhile in the other game of the round at the same city, North Zone thumped South Zone by 10 wickets with the clash ending on day three Thursday. Pritom Kumar (155) and captain Akbar Ali (121) starred for the winning side.
