Bangladesh have made two changes to the starting XI for their final AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Singapore, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm Bangladesh time on Tuesday.

In a notable development, captain Jamal Bhuiyan has been left out of the starting line-up, with Sohel Rana set to lead the side in his absence.

Head coach Javier Cabrera has reinstated regular goalkeeper Mitul Marma in place of Mehedi Hasan Srabon. The other change sees Sheikh Morsalin return to the XI, replacing Mirajul Islam.

Bangladesh last faced Singapore on 10 June last year, where Cabrera’s side suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat in Dhaka. Rakib Hossain had scored the lone goal for Bangladesh in that match but the winger is unavailable this time due to suspension.

So far in the qualifiers, Bangladesh have registered one win, two draws and two defeats from five matches, placing them third in the group with five points.

A victory against Singapore, combined with a Hong Kong, China defeat to India, could see Bangladesh climb to second place, providing a strong finish to their campaign.

Starting XI:

Mitul Marma (GK), Shakil Ahad Topu, Tariq Kazi, Saad Uddin, Zayyan Ahmed, Hamza Choudhury, Shamit Shome, Sohel Rana (C), Sheikh Morsalin, Faysal Ahmed Fahim, Fahamedul Islam.
