Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed believes playing on sporting wickets like the one in Mirpur will help the Tigers grow stronger in international cricket.

The right-arm quick said Bangladesh must adapt to such conditions as most overseas venues offer similar surfaces.

Speaking to T Sports, Taskin stressed that balanced wickets will prepare the side for challenging tours.

“If we want to improve our cricket, we have to play more on such wickets,” Taskin said.

“Outside Bangladesh, 90% of the conditions are sporting. We need the habit of scoring 300-plus and also defending totals on high-scoring pitches.”

Taskin also heaped praise on rising speedster Nahid Rana, who impressed throughout the series with his pace and timely breakthroughs.

“He was fabulous in this series,” Taskin noted. “Good pace, control and breakthroughs at the right time. Overall, very pleased.”

The pacer added that Bangladesh’s pace trio, including Mustafizur Rahman, worked brilliantly as a unit.

“Whoever the team needed at a certain moment was able to give breakthroughs,” he explained.

Taskin also described Nahid’s devastating spell in the first match as “something to behold”, adding that his joint Player of the Series award was fully deserved.
