Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) president Mohammad Mithun has made it clear that Bangladesh’s cricketers are not concerned about administrative power struggles; their only demand is the return of competitive cricket.

“Whether this board stays or another board comes is not my subject,” Mithun said on Tuesday.

“My subject is whether there is cricket being played or not.”

The president said he no longer tries to communicate with board officials, admitting previous efforts brought no solutions.

“To be honest, I don’t even try to contact them anymore. I tried many times before, but there was no benefit and no solution,” he said.

Speaking as a representative of the players, Mithun said cricketers are ready to accept any intervention that ensures the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League is held.

“As players and as players’ representatives, we just want cricket on the field. Whoever’s intervention brings cricket back, we will be happy,” he said.

The right-handed batter stressed that players are not demanding specific timelines — only that no season is lost.

“If it was supposed to happen in March, let it happen in May or June. That’s not a problem. We just don’t want to miss a season,” he said.

Mithun confirmed that he has already met the sports minister and received assurances.

“He is a former player. He understands the pain of players and the importance of the Dhaka League very well,” he said.

The CWAB president also highlighted that the crisis goes beyond men’s cricket.

“It’s not just the Premier League. The third division is affected. Women’s tournaments are also suspended,” he said.

“We want Bangladesh cricket to run smoothly again, just like it used to, no matter who is in charge.”
