Opener Saif Hassan has credited senior batter Mushfiqur Rahim for helping him navigate the physical and mental challenges of playing competitive cricket while fasting during Ramadan.
“Yes, definitely. It gives a little confidence,” Saif told reporters after his match-winning knock of 88 for Central Zone against North Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League final at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“Playing during Ramadan was a bit tough. Since this match was a day-night game, it was a bit of a relief because in the other match, we had to play the full innings under fasting conditions. That caused some problems with dehydration. But overall, I think it was a very good preparation,” he added.
Saif revealed that he sought Mushfiq’s advice before playing during Ramadan.
“Since we were playing while fasting, of course, I spoke with Mushfiq bhai before starting. He always plays while fasting and doesn’t miss games,” he said.
“So I tried to learn from him how to prepare. The day before the match is very important. We just talked about those things,” he added.
