Ten nomination papers submitted on first day

The first day of nomination paper submission for the upcoming election of Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited took place on Sunday, with a total of 10 nomination papers submitted, including two for the president’s post.

The papers were received by Anwarul Haque Helal, a member of the election commission appointed to oversee the polls.

For the upcoming election scheduled on 9 March, four nomination papers were sold for the president’s post and 32 for director positions. On the first day, two candidates submitted nominations for president - Barkat Ullah Bulu through a representative, and Sajed AA Adel, who submitted his form in person. Adel also filed a nomination for a director’s seat.

Other candidates who submitted nominations for director posts on Sunday include Sarkar Mahbub Ahmed, Masuduzzaman, Zahir Ahmed, Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, Abul Kalam, Jamal Rana, and Riaz Uddin.

The deadline for submitting nomination papers is Tuesday at 4pm. On Wednesday, the commission will review objections and hold hearings in the presence of candidates or their representatives. The final list of candidates is scheduled to be announced on 5 March.

The election marks a pivotal moment for the historic club as members prepare to vote for a new president and board of directors, setting the stage for a new chapter in Mohammedan’s long-standing legacy.
