The trophy of the CCDM T20 Challenge Cup 2026, organised by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), was officially unveiled on Saturday at the Mirpur Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the presence of captains from all eight participating clubs and senior officials.
The tournament is set to get underway on 27 January, with four matches scheduled on each matchday, starting at 11am Bangladesh time. The final will be held on 7 February. A total of 29 games will be played in the competition, featuring eight teams.
The CCDM T20 Challenge Cup has been introduced to ensure competitive cricket for players from clubs that are not taking part in the ongoing Dhaka League, offering them an opportunity to remain match-fit and in form.
Speaking at the trophy unveiling ceremony, Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury, Director and Chairman of the Tournament Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and member of CCDM, reflected on the circumstances surrounding the event.
“I wouldn’t say I’m embarrassed. You know the situation better than I do,” he said. “Definitely, if everyone had played, the environment and overall situation would have been much better, and we would have had greater mental satisfaction. But at least I can say that we kept our commitment.”
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, he added, “Today (Saturday), we are inaugurating this trophy, and the captains of the eight teams are standing here. I see that as our achievement. We kept our commitment.”
