Rajshahi Warriors batter Akbar Ali on Thursday said the team remain fully focused on winning the Bashundhara Cement Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title, stressing that the championship mindset was set from the very beginning of the tournament.
Speaking at a pre-final press conference, Akbar said the message from the management was clear when the squad was formed. “There was one clear message among all the players—that we would play for the championship. Now that we have reached the final, there is no second thought. We will definitely play this match with the intention of winning,” he said.
Addressing questions about limited playing opportunities, Akbar, who featured in just four matches, scoring 70 runs at a strike rate of 98.59, emphasised the importance of team interests over individual ambition. “Every player wants to play, and I am no different. But once you are part of a team, the team’s interest becomes the biggest concern,” the right-handed batter explained.
The 24-year-old also praised the Warriors’ team environment, noting that management decisions are communicated clearly and logically. “There is no mental frustration. Even if someone feels disappointed for not playing, the positive environment helps everyone adjust,” Akbar added.
