On a day defined by low-scoring attrition, the Chattogram Royals marched into the Bashundhara Cement Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) grand finale with a calculated four-wicket victory over the Rajshahi Warriors at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing a modest target of 134, Chattogram appeared to have the game under control before Rajshahi’s disciplined attack turned the screws in the final stages. With nine runs required from the final over and the pressure reaching a crescendo, it was the Royals' skipper, Mahedi Hasan, who broke the tension.

He launched a towering six off the third ball of the 20th over, effectively killing the contest and securing victory with three balls to spare.

Earlier, the Warriors’ innings never truly found its rhythm.

Despite a gritty 41 from Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Rajshahi were strangled by a relentless bowling unit. Mahedi was equally influential with the ball, returning figures of 2 for 20, while Aamer Jamal’s twin strikes ensured the Warriors were bowled out for 133 on the final delivery of their innings.

A late cameo of 32 from Abdul Gaffar Saqlain provided a glimmer of hope, but it ultimately proved insufficient on a Mirpur surface that demanded more.

While Chattogram can now relish a well-earned break before the final, the road does not end here for the Rajshahi Warriors.

Despite the loss, their league standing grants them a second life. They are set to face the Sylhet Titans on Wednesday in a high-stakes Qualifier 2. It is a winner-takes-all encounter for the remaining ticket to the final, promising another night of high-octane drama at Mirpur.
