Rangpur Riders were held to 181 for four despite half-centuries from Dawid Malan and Towhid Hridoy in the Bashundhara Cement Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Saturday at Mirpur Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Rangpur had surged to 100 in just 11.3 overs, raising hopes of the tournament’s first 200-plus total this season, but failed to capitalise on the strong platform.
Malan and Hridoy slowed after reaching their fifties, allowing Dhaka Capitals to claw their way back into the contest.
Malan finished with 78 runs off 49 balls while Hridoy scored 62 off 46.
Dhaka tightened the bowling at the death, conceding only 16 runs and taking three wickets in the final three overs to keep Rangpur below the 200-mark.
