Mohammad Mithun and several members of the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) leadership have received life-threatening messages following the recent dispute with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), sources familiar with the matter told Daily Sun on Thursday.
The messages came after CWAB led a boycott threat that disrupted domestic cricket and ultimately forced the removal of BCB director M Najmul Islam from his post as chairman of the finance committee.
Sources said the messages targeted senior CWAB figures and were considered serious in nature.
BPL Governing Council Member Secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said the matter is being taken seriously.
“We have a security department. Anyone receiving threats should share the numbers with us, and we will forward them to the security team. We are taking this seriously,” he said.
