Chattogram Royals mentor Habibul Bashar confirmed on Tuesday that the franchise is in advanced talks with Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris as a replacement for the injured Adam Rossington in the ongoing Bashundhara Cement Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
“At the moment, we are talking to Mohammad Haris, the Pakistan opening batsman and wicket-keeper. Discussions have progressed quite well,” Bashar said. “We are also in talks with another player, but most likely Haris will join us. And if we manage to go further and qualify, we may try to bring in another player who can be a game-changer.”
Rossington, who played a key role in Chattogram’s campaign, was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. His opening partnership with Mohammad Naim Sheikh proved highly effective throughout the season.
Calling Rossington’s absence a major blow, the former national captain said, “It’s definitely a very big setback. Much of our batting revolved around the way Rossington played. I think Naim Sheikh felt very comfortable when Rossington was at the other end. He is that kind of player, and his absence is a big setback for us.”
