Chattogram Royals mentor Habibul Bashar has expressed full confidence in the payment process on Tuesday of the ongoing Bashundhara Cement Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), dismissing concerns over an issue that has been an ever-present thorn in the competition.
Speaking to reporters, Chattogram mentor clarified that all payments for the franchise are being processed directly through the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which follows a formal banking and documentation system.
“We are very much satisfied,” Bashar said. “The payment method at Chattogram is that the BCB makes the payments. Unlike some franchises where owners pay directly by cheque, BCB payments involve extensive paperwork and bank transactions. That naturally takes some time.”
The former right-handed batter emphasised that despite the delay, players have full confidence in the system as the payments are guaranteed. “The players know their money is secure. This assurance is very important, and they understand the process rationally,” he added.
When asked whether players had already received their payments, Bashar confirmed that no payments had been made yet. He explained that the franchise joined the league later than others, resulting in contracts being signed at a later stage.
“All paperwork is now in order at the BCB. The processing has likely started this week, and we expect all players to receive their payments within this week,” he noted.
