Chattogram Royals captain Shak Mahedi Hasan and opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh have been fined 15% and 50% of their match fees respectively for misconduct during their Bashundhara Cement Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match against Rajshahi Warriors at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Mahedi was also handed one demerit point, whilst Naim received three.
Sources within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) umpires' department confirmed the development.
Chasing 129, opener Naim was given out LBW to Rajshahi pacer Binura Fernando—a decision that prompted the left-hander to react angrily towards the on-field umpire as he walked off the field.
Later in the chase, Royals captain Mahedi was caught off guard at the non-striker’s end following an exchange with Rajshahi bowler S M Mehrob Hossain Ohin, which then led to a heated argument with opposition captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
