Chattogram Royals opener Adam Rossington has sent a heartfelt message to fans after being ruled out of the ongoing Bashundhara Cement Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Sunday.
The right-handed English batter, who was the tournament’s leading run-scorer until Rajshahi Warriors captain Najmul Hossain Shanto overtook him, admitted his disappointment at leaving midway through the competition.
“Obviously, I’m very disappointed to be leaving,” Rossington said. “The lads are playing really well at the minute, so it’s a sad time, but hopefully they can continue this form and finish with the trophy.”
Reflecting on his second stint in the BPL, Rossington added, “I really enjoyed my time here. Last time it was only three games, but this time I wanted to challenge myself and help the team win matches. I’m disappointed to leave, but hopefully I’ve left the team in a good position.”
The 32-year-old also praised the standard of the tournament and the quality of local talent. “The standard of cricket has been very high. The local players have been excellent with bat, ball, and in the field. It’s a great platform for them to test themselves and keep improving,” he said.
Rossington scored 258 runs in six innings, including three half-centuries, at an impressive average of 64.50.
