Chattogram Royals reclaimed their position at the top of the points table after defeating the Sylhet Titans by 14 runs in the ongoing BPL at the Sylhet International Stadium on Wednesday.

Batting first, Chattogram posted 198-5 in 20 overs, the highest total by any team so far this season. In response, Sylhet were all out for 184 in 19.4 overs.

Strong contributions from Adam Rossington and Mahmudul Hasan at the top, followed by Mahedi Hasan toward the end, helped Chattogram set a challenging target.

Following a 60-run powerplay, Rossington and Mahmudul added 60 runs off 38 balls for a crucial partnership that laid a solid foundation for Chattogram.

Rossington, on the back of three consecutive fifties, scored 49 off 38 balls, while Mahmudul powered through with a 21-ball 44, striking three fours and four sixes.

After Mahmudul’s departure, Rossington continued with Hasan Nawaz before the latter was joined by Asif Ali to maintain the momentum.

Mahedi Hasan then finished with an unbeaten 33 off just 13 balls, hitting four fours and a six. Ruyel Mia was the pick of the bowlers for Sylhet, claiming three wickets for 41 runs.

Sylhet, however, struggled to gain momentum throughout their innings. Although several batters got starts, they were unable to convert them into big scores.

After losing Parvez Hossain early, Sylhet managed 50 runs in the powerplay but then lost two more wickets. Afif Hossain top-scored with 46 off 33 balls but received little support from the middle order. The innings fell apart toward the end as the required run rate climbed steadily.

Pakistani pacer Aamer Jamal took four wickets for 34 runs, while Shoriful Islam claimed two for 39, sealing the Royals’ 14-run victory.
