At least ten clubs have decided not to take part in this season’s Second Division Cricket League, mirroring the boycott already seen in the First Division. As a result, the Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) will have to begin the league with the remaining 14 clubs.
The CCDM confirmed the development on Sunday after holding a
meeting with club representatives ahead of the league. Officials said
representatives from 14 clubs attended the meeting and confirmed their
participation, while the absent clubs are sticking to the boycott. However, the
CCDM said it will continue to invite all clubs until the last moment.
According to the meeting, player transfers will be held on
January 1, 2, and 3, with matches scheduled to begin on January 11.
Earlier, 44 clubs announced a boycott of club cricket after
declaring the BCB election illegal.
