The much-anticipated third World Squash Federation (WSF) Level-1 Coaching Course, approved by both the World Squash Federation and the Asian Squash Federation, officially began on Friday in different venues, including Bashundhara Sports City.

The five-day course is being conducted primarily at the squash courts of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), with a portion of the sessions scheduled to take place at the Bashundhara Sports City squash courts.

A total of 26 squash players and coaches are participating in the course, including two players from Iran. The participants represent a wide range of institutions, including the Bangladesh Army, Independent University, Jhenaidah Cadet College (teachers), BKSP, Chattogram University, Dhaka University, East West University, Uttara College, Tejgaon College, Chattogram Club, and Dhaka Squash Academy.

Organised under the supervision of the Bangladesh Squash Federation, the course is being led by renowned Level-3 Plus coach Mohsin Javed of Iran as the chief instructor. National team player and women’s coach Marjan Akter Monika is serving as the course coordinator.

Although a formal inauguration ceremony had been planned for 3:30 pm on the opening day, the organisers decided to cancel the event in solidarity with the grieving nation following the tragic death of the late Osman Hadi.

The Bangladesh Squash Federation has already completed two Level-1 coaching courses, producing 19 internationally certified coaches, including two women. Mohsin Javed has been working with Bangladesh’s junior squash players for the past three years and will continue coaching them for another one and a half months following the completion of this course.
