Bangladesh Under-19 posted a competitive total of 225 runs, setting Sri Lanka Under-19 a target of 226 after losing the toss and being sent in to bat on Wednesday at the ICC Academy, Dubai.
The Young Tigers made a promising start through openers Zawad Abrar and Rifat Beg. Zawad narrowly missed out on a half-century, departing for 49 off 36 balls, while Rifat contributed a steady 36 from 48 deliveries. Captain Azizul Hakim added 29 runs before being dismissed as Bangladesh lost momentum in the middle overs.
Despite a brief period of struggle, Kalam Siddiki and Farid Hasan played crucial roles in lifting the total. Kalam scored a patient 32 off 60 balls, while Farid chipped in with 29 from 40 deliveries, helping Bangladesh reach a defendable score of 225 by the end of the innings.
Among the Sri Lankan bowlers, Kavija Gamage was the standout performer, claiming four important wickets in his full quota of ten overs. Rasith Nimsara and Viran Chamuditha also bowled economically, picking up two wickets each to restrict the Bangladeshi batting lineup. Now, the young Lankan side needs 226 runs to outclass the young Tigers.
