Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain made an encouraging start to his Big Bash League career, producing a tidy and controlled bowling performance on debut for Hobart Hurricanes against Sydney Thunder on Tuesday.

Batting first, Sydney Thunder posted a challenging total of 180 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Introduced early in the innings, Rishad was trusted to bowl just after the power play and responded with impressive discipline. He conceded only 6 runs in his first over, immediately putting the Thunder batters under pressure.

Rishad continued to maintain tight lines and lengths in his second over, giving away just 4 runs as he effectively slowed the scoring rate.

Hurricanes captain Nathan Ellis handed Rishad the ball once more for the final over of his spell later in the innings. Although the Thunder managed eight runs in that over, the leg-spinner completed his three-over quota with figures of 3-0-18-0.
