The much-anticipated Federation Cup match between Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan Sporting Club has been postponed by a week following a series of logistical and security-related complications.

The decision was confirmed on Monday by Zakir Hossain, deputy chairman of the Bangladesh Football Federation’s (BFF) League Committee.

Originally scheduled for 16 December at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla, the fixture was first disrupted due to Victory Day programmes planned by local authorities at the venue. The match was subsequently shifted to the National Stadium in Dhaka, but that arrangement also failed to materialise.

The game was set to take place on Tuesday at the National Stadium, with the BFF informing both clubs that it would be played behind closed doors due to security concerns. Mohammedan, however, strongly opposed the decision, insisting they would not take the field without spectators.

On Sunday, the club formally wrote to the BFF, stating that their supporters wished to attend the match and requesting a rescheduling if security issues prevented fan access on 16 December.

Following discussions on Monday among the League Committee chairman and members, the majority opposed staging the match without spectators. As a result, the Kings–Mohammedan encounter has been rescheduled for 23 December at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.

Despite the postponement, one Federation Cup fixture will proceed as scheduled on Tuesday. Fortis FC will take on Arambagh Krira Sangha at the Bashundhara Kings Arena at 2:30 pm. Fortis are third in Group B with two points from two matches, while Arambagh remain bottom of the table without a point.
