The venue for the Bashundhara Kings–Mohammedan match scheduled for 16 December was originally the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla, while Mohammedan have requested the fixture to be moved to another date. Due to Victory Day programmes by the local administration at the Cumilla venue, the match has been rescheduled to the National Stadium.
Despite football being driven by its supporters, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) now plans to stage the match behind closed doors. In a letter sent to Mohammedan Club yesterday, BFF cited Victory Day duties, saying security forces would remain busy and would not be able to provide adequate security. As a result, BFF proposed a spectator-free match. Mohammedan responded with a letter on Sunday.
In their reply, Mohammedan stated that large crowds are returning to international matches and that a closed-door fixture would disrupt this momentum. The club warned of negative reactions from fans and expressed concern over potential security risks with limited police presence. Mohammedan requested that the match be moved to another date in line with league and Federation Cup fixtures and urged BFF to consider the matter seriously.
