Bangladeshi para athletes continued to shine at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai, bringing home a total of four medals, including two golds and two bronzes.
The medal journey began on Friday when Chaiti Rani Deb clinched gold in the javelin throw with an impressive 11-meter throw, marking a historic moment for Bangladesh in para sports. On Saturday, more successes followed- Mohammad Shahidullah won gold in the 50-meter freestyle and bronze in the 100-meter freestyle, while Bangladesh’s women’s wheelchair basketball team also secured a medal.
The achievement marks the biggest milestone in the history of the National Paralympic Committee of Bangladesh (NPC Bangladesh). NPC Bangladesh Secretary General Dr. Maruf Ahmed, speaking from Dubai via social media, said,
“Our athletes’ training was world-class, which allowed them to perform at their best and win medals for the country. They have made the nation proud, and I am confident they will continue to fight for medals in the future.”
The medal-winning team is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Monday at 11 a.m., arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, according to NPC Bangladesh Joint Secretary General Sanowar Hossain.
