The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has confirmed that the Women’s Football League will return after the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, with several structural updates aimed at strengthening youth development and preparing national players for upcoming international commitments.

Following a meeting with participating clubs at the BFF headquarters on Tuesday, Vice President Fahad Karim briefed the media on the federation’s plans for the new season. He announced that the league will follow a single-round format, ensuring each team plays at least 10 matches — a key requirement for qualification in the AFC Women’s Club Championship.

“This league is more than just competition,” Karim said. “It is a pathway for national team preparation and a platform to nurture young talent. Every team must include a required number of U-17 and U-20 players in their best eleven, and substitutions will also adhere to these age categories.”

This season will see the entry of several new sides, including BKSP FC, Ansar, Police FC and corporate-backed Rajshahi Stars. They will join returning veteran clubs to create what officials expect will be a more competitive and development-focused league.

The competition is scheduled to conclude by the end of January so that the national squad can regroup in February for international assignments. Players from service teams will represent their respective institutions directly and will not enter the central player pool. Karim further noted that all financial agreements and player contracts will be closely monitored through the FIFA Connect system to ensure transparency.

Matches will take place under floodlights at the Kamalapur Stadium, with a continued emphasis on fostering young players through structured playing time and competitive exposure.

“This league lays an essential foundation for the future of women’s football in Bangladesh,” Karim added. “It provides meaningful match experience, supports player development and reinforces our preparations for the global stage.”
