The 2026 Bangladesh Premier League is set to begin with six teams, but speculation surrounding Chattogram Royals has dominated discussions even before the first ball is bowled. The franchise appointed Tushar Imran to the panel after mentor and team manager Habibul Bashar stepped down to take a position on the BPL Technical Committee.

Following this development, uncertainty spread across social media about the Royals’ participation in the upcoming season. Late last night, the franchise stated to address the situation clearly.

The statement read, “In light of recent speculation, it has come to the Chattogram Royals’ attention that rumors are circulating regarding the franchise’s withdrawal from the 12th season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The team would like to clearly state that Chattogram Royals have made no such announcement to any media outlet nor to BCB.”

The franchise also reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and transparency.

“Integrity has always been a core value of the team, and the team remains fully committed to upholding it. All management and operational members are actively preparing for the upcoming tournament with complete dedication and professionalism. With a new inclusion in the team management, Chattogram Royals look forward to participating in the Bangladesh Premier League and are focused on delivering their best performance in the 12th season.”

Along with clarifying their position, the Royals announced new appointments within their coaching setup. Former national batter Tushar Imran has been named the team’s batting coach and mentor, while local coach Mominul Haque will serve as the head coach for the upcoming season.
