Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Kumar Das has expressed full support for the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision to retain prominent local coaches Mohammad Salahuddin and Mohammad Ashraful in the national setup. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Litton said he was encouraged by their continued involvement and emphasised the value they bring to the team.
“This is not under my control. But if local coaches are doing well and the BCB feels that someone is helpful for our cricket, then why not? Big names alone are not enough. What matters is effectiveness, whether the players are happy and whether they can learn something from that person. If the players feel they are learning and if the BCB believes it is beneficial, they can certainly continue,” Litton said.
He added that the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be crucial in shaping the squad’s mindset and preparing players for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup. With matches scheduled across three different venues, Litton believes the experience will help players adapt more efficiently to varying conditions.
“Now if we can play well in the BPL the mindset and confidence of the players will be boosted. I do not think we have a weakness. What matters most is adapting quickly to conditions. In the BPL we will play in three different venues and each venue will have different types of pitches. This experience will help us in the World Cup,” he said.
Litton reiterated that strong performances in the BPL will directly translate to confidence on the world stage.
“If our players perform well in BPL, their mindset and confidence will be strong. That is what will help in the World Cup,” he concluded.
