Rangpur Riders re-sign Pakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed

Rangpur Riders have strengthened their squad for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season by re-signing Pakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed. The franchise confirmed the move on Thursday through its social media channels.
“All-round beast Iftikhar Ahmed in Riders’ colours once
more! Pakistani powerhouse Iftikhar Ahmed will represent Rangpur Riders again
this BPL season,” the club announced in a Facebook post.
Iftikhar, known for his explosive batting and useful
off-spin, brings a wealth of international experience. He has featured in 66
T20Is for Pakistan, scoring 998 runs at an average of 24.34 and a strike rate
of 129.10. With the ball, he has taken 8 wickets at an average of 43.62 and an
economy rate of 7.09.
In the BPL, the 34-year-old has been a consistent performer.
He first appeared for Fortune Barishal in the 2022–23 season before joining
Rangpur Riders in the 2024–25 edition. Across 23 matches in the league, he has
scored 656 runs at an impressive average of 50.46 and a strike rate of 136.95.
He has also taken 6 wickets with an economy rate of 7.20.
For Rangpur Riders in BPL, Iftikhar was one of the
standout performers last season. He amassed 305 runs from 12 matches at an
average of 43.57 and a strike rate of 119.14. With the ball, he contributed 5
wickets at an economy of 7.05.
