The High Court of Bangladesh has summarily dismissed three writ petitions challenging the exclusion of nine players, including national cricketers, from the player auction list for the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The petitions sought a court directive to reinstate the names of the players in the upcoming auction.

During the hearing, the petitioners were represented by Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, while the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was represented by Barrister Mahin M. Rahman, Advocate of the Appellate Division.

“They had filed three writs. I represented the BCB during the hearing, and in the end the court dismissed them. So the auction will go ahead, without the nine players,” Barrister Mahin M. Rahman told Daily Sun after the verdict.

A Division Bench of the High Court, comprising Mr Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi and Mr Justice Raziuddin Ahmed, issued the order on Saturday. With the decision, the BPL 12th edition auction will proceed as scheduled, excluding the nine players.
