Hamza Choudhury’s father, Dewan Murshed Choudhury, expressed the overwhelming joy felt by their family and by fans across Bangladesh ahead of the clash against India on 18 November. He described how the recent bicycle-kick goal surprised not only him but also everyone present, including the commentators.
"There are so many feelings of joy that cannot be expressed in words. I didn’t even understand that he would score a bicycle goal. It’s not just me—those who were here, the commentators who were here, they also said it, they also couldn’t imagine that something like this could happen," he said to the reporters during the practice session on Monday.
He clarified that Hamza’s growing number of sponsors is not what drives him; Hamza is motivated purely by his love for football and his commitment to the country. Above all, Dewan Murshed emphasized Hamza’s determination to win.
"It feels very good. Although Hamza didn’t actually come for these things. Hamza came for the love of football, for the love of the country. He said that he wants to win. He wants to win every single match," he concluded.
