Dhaka’s National Sports Council auditorium came alive on Saturday as over 500 bodybuilders flexed, posed, and prepared to battle for the prestigious Mr. Bangladesh title. After a two-year pause, the national tournament returned with energy, spectacle, and the promise of international opportunities for winners. The three-day event, which started on Saturday, will continue on 16th and 17th November.
Athletes rubbed oils and applied body paint to highlight every muscle under the bright stage lights, while a dedicated nutrition stall kept them fueled. The tournament spans three categories—Men’s Bodybuilding, Masters, and Men’s Physique—across 12 weight and height classes, from 55kg to over 85kg and 166cm to above 170cm.
The grand opening saw Md. Mustafa Kamal, Additional IGP, PBI and President of the Bodybuilding Federation, declare,
“Top performers and the eventual Mr. Bangladesh will get the chance to compete internationally, and enjoy preferential opportunities in their careers.”
Dr. Qumruzzaman, Federation General Secretary, added,
“We are putting the spotlight on young talent. After two years, the national stage is back, and it’s the young bodybuilders who are seizing the moment.”
Beyond trophies and titles, the tournament aims to inspire the youth to embrace fitness, health awareness, and regular exercise. It also offers a platform for emerging stars to showcase their dedication and skill in front of the nation.
