The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued an official statement on Saturday addressing recent concerns raised by the National Sports Council (NSC) regarding the selection process of the Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team and other matters linked to women’s cricket administration.
Following this review, the BCB confirmed that no irregularities were found in the selection process of the Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team. The Board stated that the procedures followed were consistent with established guidelines and free from procedural violations.
According to the BCB media release, the NSC’s correspondence dated 17 September 2025 arrived during a period of intense organisational activity, as the Board was occupied with the formation of the General Council and the election of a new Board of Directors. During this period, most BCB departments were occupied with essential election-related duties, limiting their scope to urgent day-to-day operational activities.
Following the completion of the General Council formation, the election of the Board of Directors, and the subsequent allocation of responsibilities to the newly appointed Committee Chairmen, the relevant committee and department were consulted, and all available records were thoroughly reviewed.
The media release also referenced an earlier letter dated 8 September 2025, submitted by Ria Akhter Shikha to the NSC’s Executive Director. The BCB announced that the issues raised in that letter are currently being forwarded to the newly formed five-member Inquiry Committee, tasked with investigating the allegations made by former national women’s team captain Jahanara Alam in a recent social media interview.
